Literary Genre: Fairytale
Once, there was a giant named Gi who lived
in the clouds. He lived in a big castle. Below his castle, lived a village
called Hermitrot.
Now, whenever Gi turned on the tap, the
village of Hermitrot would rain. There were only two kinds of rain; the first:
drizzle, when Gi turned on the tap to wash his hands, or when he flushed the
toilet; the second: storm, when Gi took a bath. Because of the steady rhythm of
the rain (Gi always turned on the tap at the same time everyday), the village
of Hermitrot were not too bothered by the rain as they would always be
prepared. But you know such a steady rhythm wouldn't last forever.
There was this day when two of Gi's
nephews and nieces came to visit. Their names were Giga and Gina. Gi gave them
a medium room, with a bathroom and a computer room inside. As a result, they
played all day long until they were sweaty and sticky. So Giga said,"I'd
better fill up the bathtub, as I'm going to take a bath." So he turned on
the tap. And, of course, this caused a storm in the vilage of Hermitrot. People
were quite surprised because it wasn't Gi's usual hour of taking a bath.
Up in the twins' room, Giga was splashing
around in the bathtub. It already took half an hour. Gina was already banging
on the bathroom door. "I want to take a bath too! What's taking you so
long?" she asked impatiently.
"Wait a minute," answered Giga.
So Gina waited for another 10 minutes.
Then she went impatient and banged on the door again. "Hey little brother!
What on earth are you doing in there?" she shouted.
"Just another minute. My rubber-ducky
is gone."
"I'll find it for you. Now please get
out!"
"Yeah, yeah, as soon as I can find my
towel....."
"All of your lame excuses!" Gina
cut him impatiently. "It's on the second drawer from the right, you
barnacle head! Now get out! It's my turn!"
"Okay," and out came Giga. Gina
practically threw herself into the bathroom.
"Don't forget to find my
rubber-ducky!" shouted Giga.
Gina drained all the water from the
bathtub. "I'll only use the shower", she thought, "so uncle Gi
wouldn't waste much water." Little did she know that not using the bathtub
would affect the village of Hermitrot, that is, the storm would turn into a
drizzle. She bathed quickly, then she headed to the wash tap to wash her face.
Suddenly, Giga's voice filled the bathroom. "Hey sis! Come on out! Uncle
Gi's gotten us a new game!" At the mention of a new game, Gina's ears
perked up and she hurriedly went out of the bathroom, hence she forgot to turn
off the tap. She did remember, after a whole hour playing with Giga. Hence,
because of this, the village of Hermitrot had another drizzle.
People were starting to wonder out loud,
why on earth was it raining so often? They didn't dare tell Gi, because he was
stubborn. They were out of ideas. Then once, Giga and Gi took a bath in
different bathrooms at the same time! The villagers were prepared for a normal
storm, but not a raging one. They didn't have a clue that Gina and Giga were
coming to stay. The people wondered aloud, "Something must be done about
this strange rhythm of raining."
Luckily, someone did come up with an idea.
It was a little 10-year old girl named Alice. She came from a normal family.
She said, "Why don't we just give Mr. Gi a bill of how much water he uses,
and force him to pay some money?" That was an incredible idea. It was
quickly spread across the village. The mayor of the village, Mr. Henry, told
everyone about Alice's idea. But someone in the crowd raised a question,
"Who is going to deliver the bill to Mr. Gi?" Then little Alice said,
"I will." Mr Henry smiled at her approvingly.
Then the giant-sized bill was printed out.
Mr. Henry gave it to Alice, which the bill was
almost as big as herself, to deliver it to Gi. Alice chose to use Unicornio the Unicorn as a transport. Mr. Henry wished her good luck as she started to rise with Unicornio.

Finally Alice arrived at Gi's castle. She
knocked on the door. Gi answered the door. Alice said, "Good afternoon,
Mr. Gi. I'm sorry to disturb you, but I come from the village below to deliver
this bill to you." Gi took the bill, and his eyes widened with shock as
the bill was so expensive. Alice saw Gi's shocked look, and said, "The
whole village of Hermitrot are waiting for an explanation of the sudden rains
that happened through this bill, for you and I, and everyone else in the
village, knows that when you turn on the tap, our village will rain. Please
explain." Gi suddenly realized. Gina and Giga! "It must be
them," Gi thought. "Gina! Giga! Come here at once!"
They came to the door. "Yes, uncle
Gi?"
"The village below are very annoyed
with you because you've been wasting a lot of water."
"What does water up here affect them
down there?" Giga asked stubbornly.
"When you turn on the tap, it's
raining down there. I have a feeling you've been playing too much." Little
did he know that he was right. "So," he concluded, "go to your
room and print out a letter of apology to the people, if that's alright with
you, young lady." He beckoned to Alice. Alice nodded. The twins ran into
their room and printed out the letter. "Oh yes," Gi continued,
"tell them that those two are going home tomorrow, so all of you won't
have to worry about the sudden rains again." He smiled and handed the
letter over to Alice. She said, "Thank you, Sir. Do excuse me to go back
down to my village." Gi nodded and bade farewell to her. So Alice and
Unicornio flew back down to the village.
Mr. Henry was waiting for her. Alice explained
everything. "Oho!" said Mr. Henry, "It was all because of those
two were coming to stay, wasn't it? Well, all's well that ends well," he
said triumphantly.
And everyone, especially Alice, couldn't
agree more with that.
