Note: This poem is not a depiction of my school life. I merely wrote this for fun.
Literary Genre: Poetry
Six o'clock, I wake up,
Get dressed, take my stuff,
Grab a toast and have a cup;
Off to school, sure enough.
Seven thirty, the bell rings,
Teachers explain on and on.
Lunch bell, packing things,
And I wonder, where's time gone?
Noon, it's lunchtime,
The cafeteria has a crowd;
Yet I find it somewhat sublime,
As I eat in the air of the loud.
Soon after, back to class,
Homework is assigned;
As usual, in large quantities,
And come the usual whine.
Four PM, class dismissed,
Students all go home;
I trod my way through the mist
Of monotony as I roam.
Extra classes till eight
To prepare for the SAT.
I find it's a while since I ate
But aware that it'll set me free.
Revising notes, completing homework,
Everything for college acceptance.
Until 11 PM I sit and work
And study with steadied patience.
Everyday, always the same thing.
I realize that I am tired
Of the routine that is always repeating
And the lifestyle I was hardwired.
But I'm doing this for myself,
For the hope of reaching my dreams,
For the aims I have set in self,
'Cos nothing is ever in the extremes.
So, I study, for the time being,
And try my best to be brilliant;
Because I realize I am living
The typical life of a student.
